AND STAMPINGS Whether a processing mistake or a customer request, Commercial Steel Treating can save you money in the rework of fasteners and small stampings. We have developed the ability to remove organic coatings, adhesives or nylon patch locking elements commonly applied to fasteners and small stampings. Removal of these coatings normally requires high temperatures to "burn off' the coating. To reuse the component, subsequent heat treating and finishing was necessary at significant expense. Using a proprietary mix of chemicals and precise controls, this environmentally friendly bath operates at less than 800°F. At these temperatures most metallurgical properties remain unaffected.
![]() The end result - a part ready to be reprocessed. Coatings are safely removed without acids frequently used in other chemical stripping solutions. The base metal is unaffected, if prior heat treatment was conducted before finishing. The low operating temperature should not affect the hardness of the component, particularly fasteners. This saves the additional cost of a second heat treat process. We think that you will find the processing costs very attractive and the surface cosmetics more than acceptable. Commercial Steel Treating will process a reasonable sample quantity on a no-charge basis for your examination and review.
