Gas Nitride

Gas Nitride

Gas Nitriding is a specialized heat treat process for the development of hard, wear resistant deep case structures in alloy steels. Performed on applications that see heavy loading and require high strength properties. This process is conducted at a low temperature to control size change. Since the process eliminates the need for quenching, subsequent secondary finishing is eliminated.

Gas Nitriding is normally used in conjunction with core development, enhancing the durability of the component design while ensuring the following Benefits:

Extremely Hard Surfaces with Excellent Resistance to Galling

  • High Fatigue Strength
  • High Resistance to Seizure and Scuffing
  • Minimal Distortion or Dimensional Change

Exceptional Repeatability from Lot to Lot Preparation. Since the components are at finished dimensions, selection of the best preparation method prior to processing is critical. Here at Commercial Steel, we have developed a proprietary method of cleaning, which ensures uniform case formation and excellent cosmetic results.

Commercial is proud to be a ISO 9002 registered heat treat supplier. Our A2LA and FQA accredited laboratory is staffed 24 hours a day by degreed metallurgical engineers Our experienced staff is available to answer your questions on materials, applications or processing specifics.
